Operatives of the Odo-Noforija Police Division have apprehended a 25-year-old man, identified as Samson Oghenebreme, in the Odomola community of Epe, Lagos State, for unlawful possession of human organs. The arrest was made on April 25, 2025, following credible intelligence received from vigilant members of the public who reported the suspect’s suspicious movements. This was revealed in a statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, on the 9th of May 2025.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Oghenebreme was allegedly transporting the organs from Edo State to a native doctor, purportedly for use in money-making rituals. The nature and intent of the items found in his possession raised immediate concern, prompting swift police action.
The recovered human organs have been taken to the General Hospital in Epe for proper preservation. Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution, given that the origin of the crime traces back to Edo State.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the prompt response of the officers involved and praised the vigilance of the Odomola community. He emphasized the critical role public cooperation played in the successful apprehension of the suspect.
CP Jimoh also reiterated the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged all residents to remain observant and to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station, stressing that community-police collaboration is key to maintaining public safety.
