The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on July 6th, 2025, conducted coordinated precision airstrikes targeting terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State, dealing a major blow to the insurgent group’s operations.
The strikes, carried out under Operation Hadin Kai, specifically hit Wa Jahode and Loghpere, two long-standing strongholds of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram, located along the difficult Nigeria–Cameroon border terrain.
According to a statement released Monday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the offensive followed credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirming the presence of terrorist infrastructure and increased militant activity.
The airstrikes were launched following ISR findings that revealed clusters of fortified structures, black flags, and logistics hubs fitted with solar panels, indicating a surge in insurgent planning and logistics buildup,” the statement read.
NAF deployed strike aircraft to carry out multiple air interdiction missions, successfully destroying logistics warehouses, command centres, and defensive shelters.
Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, disrupting their supply chain and weakening their capacity for further attacks, Ejodame said. The military described the offensive as a significant step toward eroding terrorists operational foothold in the North-East.
Ejodame reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to sustained counterterrorism efforts, pledging continued operations to restore peace and stability across Nigeria’s conflict-affected regions.
