Police Arrest Three Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearms in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three individuals suspected to be members of a cult group during a covert meeting in the Elemoro area of Lagos. The suspects — identified as Christopher Amah, 28; Bada Olusesi, 38; and Magaji Yusuf, 34 — were apprehended on April 26, 2025. This was revealed in a statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr,  mipra, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja,  May 10, 2025.

According to police sources, the arrests were made during a routine patrol when officers received intelligence about an unlawful gathering involving approximately fifteen suspected cultists. Acting swiftly, the operatives stormed the location, managing to arrest three of the suspects while others fled the scene.

A search conducted at the site led to the recovery of two firearms — a defaced Beretta pistol and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one unexpended cartridge. The seized weapons are now in police custody as investigations into the incident continue, with efforts underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating cultism across the state. He emphasized that under his leadership, there will be no safe haven for cultists or any other criminal elements operating within Lagos.
