The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the uploading of results from the Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

As of 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, 437 results out of the 3,763 polling units expected across the state had been uploaded to the portal. The figure represents approximately 11.6 per cent of the total number of polling unit results expected.

The result statistics displayed on the IReV portal indicated that the uploading process was still ongoing, with more results expected to be transmitted as polling units complete the process.

INEC had earlier announced that results from all 3,763 polling units in Osun State would be uploaded directly to the IReV portal after voting. The move is part of efforts by the commission to promote transparency and allow the public to monitor the transmission of polling unit results.

The 3,763 polling units are distributed across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas and 332 Registration Areas/Wards. According to INEC, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices deployed for the election would also facilitate the transmission of polling unit results to the public portal.

Osun Election: INEC Continues Results Upload

The Osun governorship election is being contested by 15 political parties. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Francis Olugbenga Ajala, was included on the ballot at the last minute following a judgment by a Federal High Court.

Following the court decision, INEC reproduced the ballot papers and result sheets to include the SDP candidate in the election.

As of 4:12 p.m., the IReV portal showed that 3,326 polling unit results were still awaiting upload, while the commission continued with the transmission of results from across the state.
