Iran War: Trump Reacts as US House Votes on Withdrawal

President Donald Trump has criticized a recent vote in the US House of Representatives aimed at ending American military involvement in the Iran war, describing the move as “unpatriotic” and disruptive to ongoing diplomatic efforts with Tehran.

Democrats, however, have accused Trump of violating the US Constitution, alleging that he authorized strikes on Iran alongside Israel in late February without obtaining congressional approval.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump said the House vote came at a sensitive moment, claiming it interfered with what he described as his final negotiations to bring an end to the conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran. He questioned the timing of the measure and insisted lawmakers were aware of the status of talks.

Congressional Clash Over Iran War Escalates in Washington

The House vote, which is largely symbolic, seeks to direct the withdrawal of US troops from the Iran war. It passed with a narrow 215–208 margin, with four Republicans breaking ranks to join Democrats in support of the measure. The resolution now moves to the Senate and is expected to face a presidential veto.

This marks the first time since the war began three months ago that the Republican-controlled House has approved a measure aimed at curbing Trump’s military operations against Tehran.

Under the US War Powers Act, presidents are required to seek congressional authorization within 60 days of deploying forces into hostilities. That deadline has reportedly passed, with Democrats arguing that the administration is now in violation of the law.

Reacting further, Trump said Democrats would rather see the country fail than allow him to secure what he described as another victory. He also criticized the four Republican lawmakers who supported the measure, labeling them “GRANDSTANDERS” and saying they should be ashamed of their actions.
