The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called on its employees to improve service delivery by taking ownership of stakeholders’ concerns and ensuring complaints are followed through to resolution.
The Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Maida, made the call on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during the 2026 Customer Service Week celebration at the NCC headquarters in Abuja.
The event, themed “Going the Extra Mile,” highlighted the need for improved engagement with telecommunications consumers, industry operators and other stakeholders.
Maida stressed that effective customer service requires more than acknowledging complaints, urging staff to provide timely responses, communicate clearly and take responsibility for resolving issues.
He noted that growing reliance on digital services had raised expectations for faster and more transparent service delivery, adding that technology must be complemented by empathy, professionalism and sound judgment.
The NCC chief executive commended employees for their contributions to consumer complaint resolution, regulatory activities and engagements with telecommunications operators.
He also emphasised the importance of effective communication and collaboration among departments, noting that internal service delivery directly influences the quality of service provided to the public.
Maida urged staff to identify operational challenges, including delayed responses, complicated procedures and recurring complaints, and take practical steps to address them.
He further encouraged employees to uphold courtesy, integrity and respect in their dealings with stakeholders, describing these values as essential to building public trust.
The EVC called on staff to maintain the spirit of Customer Service Week throughout the year, making service excellence a consistent part of their responsibilities.
