Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the families of those who died in the crash of an NAF ATR-42 aircraft in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The aircraft, with registration number NGR 931, crashed on Monday, resulting in the deaths of 25 people, comprising 20 passengers and five crew members.
Sanwo-Olu, who is also Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, described the incident as a tragic and painful loss.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor extended his sympathies to the victims’ families, friends and associates.
He also conveyed his condolences to President Tinubu and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, over the incident.
Sanwo-Olu prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and asked God to give their families the strength to cope with the loss.
He said the Lagos State Government and its people stood with the Nigerian Air Force and the bereaved families during the difficult period.
