The Federal High Court in Abuja has directed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, to stop presenting himself as the APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Thursday, ruling that Uzodimma did not win the party’s primary election held on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court held that evidence presented during the case showed that former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, secured the highest number of votes in the primary.

Consequently, the judge directed the APC to recognise Okorocha as the winner and submit his name to INEC as its candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

The judgment is a setback for Uzodimma’s senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
