Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has received the National Peace and Humanitarian Award in recognition of his administration’s efforts to promote peace and security.
The award was presented on Monday, October 26, 2026, during the South-West Zonal Peace Summit and Humanitarian Awards held at NECA House, Ikeja, Lagos. The event was organised by the Nigeria Peace Summit Group.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Oluwatoyin Oladeji, the governor dedicated the recognition to Lagos residents, security agencies and community leaders working to maintain peace across the state.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted his administration’s investments in security equipment, intelligence gathering, surveillance and emergency response through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.
He also emphasised the importance of regional collaboration, noting that security challenges require cooperation among South-West states and the Federal Government.
“As Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum, I remain committed to stronger regional cooperation, particularly in intelligence sharing, coordinated security operations and community-based early-warning systems,” he said.
The convener of the summit, Bishop Timothy Cheren, commended the governor’s security initiatives, particularly the role of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund in supporting security operations.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, represented by Dr Kamil Shoretire, also urged Nigerians to promote peace and commended security personnel for their sacrifices.
