Arrest of Suspected Armed Robber, Recovery of Locally Fabricated Pistol and Charms

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally fabricated pistol alongside assorted charms during a routine patrol in the Igando area of the state.

According to the statement signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest was made as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality across Lagos State.

Police operatives on routine patrol reportedly became suspicious after spotting a motorcycle carrying three male occupants whose behavior raised concerns. On noticing the patrol team, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee.

Police Intensify Robbery Investigation

One of the suspects, identified as Olajunja Segun Samson, 29, was apprehended, while the two other occupants escaped, abandoning the motorcycle.

A search conducted on the arrested suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms. The suspect remains in police custody, while efforts are underway to track down and arrest the fleeing accomplices.

The Lagos State Police Command said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism in carrying out the arrest.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes across the state and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and facilitate the arrest of criminal elements.
