A fire incident has affected the old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, a section of the facility currently undergoing extensive multi-billion-naira renovation works.

Confirming the development, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Henry Agbebire, said officials were already on site responding to the situation.
“We are aware of the outbreak, and we are there right now. We will publish a statement right now.”
He noted that emergency responders had been mobilised immediately to contain the situation and limit further damage.
“Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to curtail the situation,” he said.
“No loss of lives has been recorded. Further updates will be recorded,” he added.
Passengers and other airport users have been urged to remain calm while authorities work to fully extinguish the fire and evaluate the extent of damage to the affected terminal.
